Borek is a data executive, bestselling author, highly reviewed keynoter, content creator, data masterclass trainer and advisor. He helped more than 30 organizations in Europe advance their data and AI journeys.
As Director of Data Analytics, Borek co-leads the Zalando Data Foundation in Berlin, the central tech team of 130 people covering data, analytics, and AI end to end. He drives the data mesh transformation across the Zalando Group, Europe’s largest online fashion retailer, with more than 50 million customers.
Before Zalando, Borek led the data and platform strategy at Volkswagen Group across all brands. He also served as Global Head of Data, Analytics, and AI at VW Financial Services, deploying machine learning algorithms across multiple continents. He advised Fortune 500 companies at the board level as a consultant at Gartner and IBM.
Borek is the co-author of the books “The Ultimate Data and AI Guide,” “Total Information Risk Management,” “Marketing with Smart Machines,” and “Driving Digital Transformation Through Data and AI.” He holds a doctorate in engineering from the University of Cambridge in data quality risk management.
