The 2023 GuidePoint Security (GPSEC) Columbus Tech Summit shined a spotlight on security and technology executives and organizations in Central Ohio and the Midwest U.S. on November 14. More than 100 speakers and 400 participants came together for the event presented by CDO Magazine, ComSpark, and the Central Ohio CIO Forum. It reinforces the positioning of the Midwest region of the United States as a global leader in technology.

“Columbus, Ohio, has become one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. It just passed San Francisco as the 13th largest U.S. city. The event was packed with cutting-edge discussions, tech innovations, and networking opportunities. Participants explored the latest trends and strategies shaping the future of cybersecurity and technology.

Leaders from key industry sectors like banking, technology, financial services, government, healthcare, and insurance shared thought-provoking insights and expertise on critical issues through more than 20 breakout sessions and three keynote presentations. Featured tracks included:

GPSEC Columbus Tech Summit Co-Chair Ben Blanquera, Rackspace Technology/FAIR VP, Evangelist, Sr. Architect and Central Ohio CIO Forum Chair, describes the importance of security and AI: “The convergence of security and AI is here and now as we explore leveraging AI for a better humanity.” He adds, “We also need to think about security options, and make sure the security team and the business team work in concert to advance AI in its responsible adoption.”

Sharing her take on the summit, Dr. Tonjia Coverdale, Associated Bank SVP and Chief Strategy Officer for Operations and Technology, says, "Security is a valued partner in our innovation cycles. Oftentimes, security is viewed as a blocker, but we really need a strong partnership between security professionals and the entire enterprise to be able to advance a complete solution and make true innovation happen!”

Wells Fargo SVP and Head of Customer Data Strategy Jasmine de Gaia was impressed with the "phenomenal insights regarding driving innovation through data and in particular looking at business strategy, customer journeys, and end-to-end usage and application of data to transform the business."

Bob Fehrenbach, GuidePoint Security Sales Director, describes the summit as “a first-class event. It was very well organized. The feedback from our customers and contacts who participated has been overwhelmingly positive."
