How do you align IT with business strategy? 

“We have been using a graph that allows us see both ends of the spectrum. We identify the mission critical applications important to the business, like email, website performances and such, as well as the strategic aspects of each application, and then we chart and identify the ones which add the most strategic value and are most mission critical for the business. So we look at both aspects, but from an IT alignment perspective, we target the quadrant where they overlap. We have been using this exercise to consider and understand whether we are being strategic, mission critical and doing the right things in the right place.”
