How do you ensure that IT line managers are involved in strategic IT planning?

“I’m assembling a technology steering committee. I don’t have political appointments, it’s only technology and people who know their business really well. They can be people who have worked at the Y for thirty years and understand just one part of the business, but have no clue about technology. I can talk to these people about what business stuff a certain technology will bring to them and they can say whether or not it makes sense. If I can convince a person like that, then it’s something that truly is valuable.”
