CDO Magazine has released the highly anticipated 2024 edition of The State of Data Observability report today. Produced in collaboration with Pantomath, a leading data pipeline observability and traceability platform, this report is based on an in-depth study of data observability, highlighting key insights and trends shaping the field.

Expanding on last year’s pioneering research, “The State of Data Observability 2024” explores the rapidly evolving landscape of data observability and its increasing significance in enterprise data management.

The latest report reveals that 92% of leaders consider data reliability core to their data strategy. While confidence in the quality and reliability of data pipelines is growing, it remains concentrated among a select group of organizations.

Challenges also persist. For instance, the report found that data observability continues to lag behind expectations. Many organizations report that incidents can take hours, days, or even weeks to resolve, emphasizing the need for improvement.

Moreover, there’s an increasing demand for end-to-end visibility and pipeline lineage, with 82% of respondents acknowledging that it is still lacking in their data processes. This gap underscores the urgency for organizations to enhance their data observability frameworks.

For the report, CDO Magazine surveyed 189 industry-leading data management decision-makers. Qualified respondents have decision-making authority for either the data technology selection, budgetary approvals, or both.
