(US and Canada) Hariharan Srinivasan, Enterprise Data Engineering and Analytics Director, Franklin Templeton, speaks with Cheryl Rodenfels, Chief Technology Officer, Stratascale, an SHI Company, about the transition from being a reporting group to an analytics or data intelligence organization.
Srinivasan reveals that Franklin Templeton focuses on analytics to a large extent. Being an investment management company, it relies heavily on information to understand the market so that investment managers can make decisions to invest in the right securities that provide returns to investors. He explains that the analytics group is responsible for feeding that information to the investment managers and customers, helping them make the right decisions. Srinivasan adds that analytics is not a choice but a mandatory requirement for the organization to stay in the race.
Sharing his experience with Franklin Templeton’s technology evolution, Srinivasan says that delivering trustworthy data is not the responsibility of one team. It is a partnership between the data governance, data engineering, business, and data management teams, he explains. He elaborates that the organization adds all the products available in the market to set the data lineage and data governance.
Concluding, Srinivasan mentions that the organization is moving aggressively toward cloud technology and is focusing on moving toward cloud transformation.
