Ellen Nielsen, Chief Data Officer at Chevron, speaks with Asha Saxena, Founder and CEO of WLDA.tech, in a video interview about Women Leaders in Data and AI's (WLDA’s) upcoming WLDA Summit and WLDA Gala, the need for celebrating women leaders, and the key engagements to look forward to in the events.

WLDA is a leading global network for women technology leaders. The WLDA Summit is WLDA’s annual celebration of thought leaders. Both the WLDA Summit and WLDA Gala are scheduled to be held on November 9, in New York. A focus area for this year’s summit is the application of artificial intelligence in today’s business.

Nielsen begins the conversation by sharing her experiences from the last two summits. She says that they were fully packed and rich. Last year’s summit focused on Web3 and other new trends and saw presentations around business models in a Web3 environment and combining drones with gaming.

Speaking further, Nielsen shares her excitement about AI, especially with the advent of generative AI. She also highlights the “think tank” sessions as an intimate gathering discussing various aspects like embracing new AI technology, managing risk, exploring new opportunities, and responsible use.

Next, Nielsen speaks about WLDA’s mission to create a fair digital world and promote female entrepreneurs. She adds that the last session of the summit will bring senior entrepreneurs in front of the audience to share their ideas. She adds that she is looking forward to listening to women and the companies in this space, exploring their thinking, and seeing them get feedback from the audience.

Further, Nielsen stresses the need for more women leaders not only in corporations but also in startups along the complete data landscape.

Elaborating on the gala, Nielsen says that the essence is to recognize the women who did extraordinary work driving their careers over the years. She encourages nominating female leaders, strong male allies, and supportive organizations.

More information about the summit can be accessed on the WLDA.tech website.
