(US and Canada) Former NASA CDO Ron Thompson has been awarded the EDGE23@CES Government Technology Leadership Award. The award was conferred by the Government Business Executive Forum (GBEF) for the application of information technologies to improve the government.

Thompson retired from the government in 2022 after a little over three decades of active service. He has held leadership roles at the U.S. Census Bureau, the Department of the Treasury, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Department of Health and Human Services.

He served as the Principal Deputy Chief Information Officer at the Department of Veteran Affairs, as CIO at the Department of Agriculture, and most recently as Nasa’s first Chief Data Officer.

A U.S. army veteran, Thompson is currently the Executive Director and CDO of Quantum Space, a Rockville-based space transport and research organization.
