Emory Appoints Joe Depa as Inaugural CDAO

(US and Canada) Emory University, a private research university located in Atlanta, Georgia, has recently appointed Joe Depa as its inaugural Chief Data and Analytics Officer. The university is known for its commitment to academic excellence and contributions to healthcare, science, and the arts.

In this new role, Depa is set to leverage the potential of data to advance health outcomes, with a primary focus on improving patient care and alleviating clinician burnout. Simultaneously, he will drive the expansion of Emory's academic influence by spearheading pioneering research and educational initiatives.

Additionally, his position will play a pivotal role in cultivating an environment that fosters growth and well-being within the Emory community, emphasizing efficiency and cultural enhancement. Furthermore, Depa's responsibilities extend to bolstering the data infrastructure for both Emory University and Emory Healthcare.

Prior to joining Emory, Depa served as Senior Managing Director at Accenture, where he led the global charge for data and AI within the company's strategy and consulting division. During his time there, he skillfully oversaw an acclaimed team of worldwide experts specializing in data science and AI strategy, while also contributing to the global leadership committee.

His primary mission was to assist clients across various sectors, including health and life sciences, in harnessing the power of data to create innovative clinical data products, enhance both patient and employee experiences, and drive operational cost reductions.
