(US and Canada) Leading academic healthcare and medical research company VCU Health has appointed Alok Chaudhary as Vice President, Chief Data and AI Officer.

VCU Health is focused on utilizing digital advancements to enhance patient care and improve the team member experience. To this end, a new leadership role has been established to drive progress in data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, supporting VCU Health’s mission of helping every patient live their best life.

In his new role, Chaudhary will chair VCU Health’s Data Steering Committee, collaborating with key health system leaders to prioritize and implement a data platform that best serves patients and team members. He will also lead the development of high-performance teams to ensure alignment with VCU Health’s mission and values, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and commitment to customer service and business needs.

Chaudhary brings over twenty years of expertise in healthcare data, analytics, and IT, including 18 years in leadership positions. His most recent role was as Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Ballad Health in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he established an analytics center of excellence and formulated an enterprise data management strategy for the 21-hospital system serving areas in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Prior to this, he held a similar role at the University of Louisville Health from October 2017 to January 2022.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Chaudhary is engaged in various professional associations, serving on the Modal Learning advisory board. He holds a position on the CDO Magazine Global Editorial Board, showcasing his contributions to the field of data.

Chaudhary holds an MBA from Oregon State University and a Certificate in Information Systems Management from the UC Santa Cruz Extension program in Silicon Valley.
