Well, this is cool...
For Cincinnati Beer Week, Arnold's partnered with six breweries to commission some of the best Gig Poster artists in the country to re-imagine one of the breweries' beers as a brand new work of art. From that work the artists created 50 limited-edition Screen Prints Posters were available at Arnold's on the day of the events, but a small number are still available to purchase online. Beer: Hop Smuggler White IPA – ABV 6.7% – Yellow with orange highlights. Citrus and fruity aroma and flavors from Vic Secret and Centennial hops. Additional spices such as Coriander, Grains of Paradise, and Orange and Lemon peel were added in order to create a citrus flavor and aroma. The malt character is very light and nutty. Finishes very bitter. Fermented with a Belgian yeast in order to augment the fruity characters of the hops and spices
Artist: Tom Post – Although Tom has been in the art industry for over 30 years, he's a newbie to the gig poster art. He's been fortunate to create art for two local breweries lately, MadTree in Cincinnati and Warped Wing in Dayton. Partnering up with art director John Pattison he's created four labels for MadTree, Happy Amber, Unhappy Amber, Pumpcan and Lift. With Warped Wing, he's created art for 10 Ton, Ermal's and Flyin' Rye. (arnoldsbeerposters.com)
Beer: Bourbon Barrel Pay It Forward Cocoa Porter – ABV: 7% – Arnold’s has an extremely limited amount of the bourbon barrel aged version of West Sixth’s dark and rich Porter with overtones of coffee and dark chocolate, it’s chewy and yet smooth at the same time. Brewed at almost imperial porter strength, they add over 60 pounds of the best cacao nibs in each 40 barrel batch.
Artist: Brian Methe – Brian has designed official gig posters for bands like Arcade Fire, Wilco, The National, Fiona Apple and more. Beer: Dark Apparition Stout – ABV: 10% – Russian Imperial Stouts are one of brewmaster Brad Clark’s favorite styles of beer and Dark Apparition is without a doubt his favorite beer to brew. They stuff 2200 pounds of malt into a 20bbl mash tun and by the end of the mash, dark malts are spilling onto the brew house floor! Brad includes great flavors he admires in his favorite Russian Imperial Stouts like chocolate, coffee, roast, dark fruit, caramel, and some nice earthy/spicy hop character. With a midnight black color and chewy, dextrinous body, Dark Apparition is a huge beer with tons of character.
Artist: Tommy Sheehan – Creator and Founder of TOMMYINK. Tommy had done official posters for bands like MOE., The Black Keys, MGMT, The Flaming Lips, The National, The Avett Brothers, Walk The Moon and many many more. Not to mention he created all the branding for the Bunbury Music Festival and Buckle Up Music festival as well as (Molly) Wellmann's Brands. (arnoldsbeerposters.com)
Beer: Hop Henge – ABV: 9.5% – Hop Henge Experimental IPA is Deschuttes annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Chinook, Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It’s all hop, no apologies.
Artist: Rob Warnick – Rob has done official artwork and posters for bands like Modest Mouse, Cake, Death Cab For Cutie, The Wallflowers and more. (arnoldsbeerposters.com)
