Looking Out for Your Family

Having a child is no small thing, and all parents-to-be want the best neonatal care, gynecological visits and facility where they will deliver their baby. UC Health West Chester Hospital, one of the premier hospitals in Greater Cincinnati, was a desirable location for many families except for one thing – it didn’t have a complete maternity ward. 

Now, however, UC Health West Chester Hospital has unveiled its new maternity ward to enhance patient experiences. Because of a large demand in the region for maternity care, the maternity wing was added to accommodate the growing needs of the community. The new maternity ward boasts eight spacious delivery suites, two Caesarean-section operating rooms and triage rooms. In addition, the adjacent nursery will function as a Level IIB neonatal intensive care unit. 

In September, Northwestern Mutual West Chester team including Brent Shaw and Jeff Gayonski donated $100,000 to the maternity unit through its Exceptional Beginnings Initiative. This program calls upon community businesses and individual donors to help the maternity unit make a positive impact on the community.

"Each day we help our clients prepare their finances so they can accomplish their dreams," said Gayonski, a wealth management advisor at Northwestern Mutual-Cincinnati. "A new child is a dream of many, and we’re honored to donate to West Chester Hospital so that future generations can have the best possible start in life."

But Northwestern Mutual’s involvement with West Chester Hospital doesn’t stop there. Two of the office’s wealth management advisors, Shaw and Gayonski, will teach a class for parents-to-be on how to examine and determine financial priorities before their child arrives. It is through the donation and these classes that Northwestern Mutual hopes to make a difference in the community now and for the next generation and their families.
