"We’re definitely a hidden gem," says Sharon Snavely, Director of Advancement at Bethany School, a private school for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
"Bethany School is a ministry of the Sisters of the Transfiguration, which is an Anglican order of Sisters who live here on the property in Glendale. They are a 120-year-old order, and our school is also 120 years old this year. The school is one of the many ministries of the Sisters," says Snavely. "In the last five years, the leadership has been working on a strategic plan, which included master site plan, curriculum overview, creating a development department and reviewing compensation for our teachers. Included in this plan was to install a board of trustees."
The school’s legacy, established by the Sisters of the Transfiguration, will be carried on by the board of trustees.
"We will have an inaugural board of trustees this coming July. This new board of trustees is going to build on the legacy of our school that the Sisters already have in place. Sister Teresa Martin, CT, is our Sister Superior for the community, and has been the Sister Superior for the last 10 years. Her term is also up June 24. She has helped to build the school into what it is today," says Snavely. "Our current head-of-school is leaving. Now David Gould will be working with our new Sister Superior, in addition to the board of trustees, so we have a lot of transition happening right now."
While Bethany School is going through a season of transition, some things do not change, such as Bethany’s commitment to providing a quality, well-rounded education.
"We are the only Episcopal school in Ohio. We have about 230 students and pull from 19 different school districts around Cincinnati. We really prepare our students and get them ready for high school. And these high schools are vying for our Bethany students. They want them, because they know they’re good students."
