When a person moves from their home and into a facility where they can get that extra bit of help that they need, many may feel their community, daily routine and independence slip away.
The trained staff and caregivers at Fairfield Pavilion are able to customize services for each resident to help them start another chapter of their life.
"I love the close-knit community that we have developed here," says Andrea Thaman of Fairfield Pavilion. "Our staff is devoted to our residents and have true friendships with them. It’s a real family here."
The facility strives to foster a home-like environment that brings independence and successful aging.
"Fairfield Pavilion is perfect for the older adult who is looking for all of the comforts of home without the responsibilities," says Thaman. "Residents can enjoy housekeeping services and a beautiful dining room that can prepare all of their meals for them so they are free to enjoy more time with their family and friends."
With different levels of care based on the need of each resident, Fairfield Pavilion offers independent and assisted living programs. By allowing staff to deal with everyday tasks, Fairfield Pavilion’s staff aims to give their residents a higher quality of life.
With a number of floor plans to choose from, each unit has individually controlled heating and air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and weekly housekeeping visits. Additional amenities include a banking center, laundry services, hair salon and spaces that residents can reserve for special events and celebrations with their friends and family.
Residents can enjoy meals prepared by a classically-trained chef and participate in the daily recreational and social activities that include live music and scheduled excursions.
Residents’ health is a top priority with physicians and nursing staff on hand 24 hours a day. Staff can also help manage a resident’s medication if needed. There are a number of medical facilities conveniently located on campus that include x-ray, lab and pharmacy services in addition to more specialized services like respiratory therapy, peritoneal dialysis, IV therapy and a secure memory unit.
"The feature our residents are most excited about is our Wellness Center," says Thaman. "It’s a great program that offers a lot of different activities like guest speakers who come in and lead discussion groups on healthy aging.
"There are also exercise classes and fitness equipment that is used by both the residents and our staff. It’s naturally grown into another way for everyone to interact with each other and they all really enjoy it."
Being involved in a welcoming community is another important aspect of life at Fairfield Pavilion.
"We have a lovely lady who came to us from years of living alone and had become very reclusive," says Thaman. "She was honestly afraid of engaging in our activities and didn’t really want to meet any new people. After she spent six months with us, she developed relationships with people she now calls her close friends and is a member of our Resident Council.
"We have watched her blossom at Fairfield Pavilion."
And the community at Fairfield Pavilion doesn’t stop at the residents and the staff.
"We consider each of our residents’ family (members) as our own extended family," says Thaman. "We know them well and include them in planning and carrying out our residents’ care. Family members are invited to dine with their loved ones and we often have events specifically for those family members so we may continue to grow our relationships."
