Eye Do Helps Brides with Makeup Classes

For the past eight years, Eye Do Makeup & Hair has helped brides feel and look their best on their wedding day. Due to popular demand, two Eye Do Makeup & Hair trainers Jami Shell and Jessica Manis now offer makeup classes to help women learn industry tips and tricks so they can look and feel their best no matter the day.

Owner Crystal Henize brings 15 years of industry experience with Elizabeth Arden, Clinique and MAC Cosmetics to her business. While working for MAC Cosmetics, Henize realized there was a demand in the bridal industry for an on-site hair and makeup company. In 2006, she started a website for Eye Do Makeup & Hair and hasn’t looked back.

A year later, Henize invited Jami Shell, regional director at Eye Do Makeup & hair, and two hairstylists to join her.

"At the time the hairstylists wanted to learn more about makeup and we wanted to learn more about hair styling. So we started an amazing training program for the team and it has snowballed from there," says Shell. "The demand for on-site wedding hair and makeup became bigger and bigger so we kept adding artists. All of a sudden we looked around and we had a really eclectic group of people from all over the industry. We have salon owners, retail cosmetic managers and trainers."

To keep up with the diverse team and changing trends, Eye Do Makeup & Hair created a five-month training program for its employees. Upon completing the program, each person becomes a master artist.

"Our brides started saying, ‘You already do these trainings – you should offer makeup classes too,’" says Shell. "Women have a makeup bag that they don’t know how to use. We noticed that even some of our artists, who are amazing makeup artists, knew how to apply makeup but didn’t necessarily know how to use certain products. So we thought, ‘Well if we have artists on our team who have gone through training who are struggling this way then what is the regular public doing?’ So we designed these makeup classes for the public."

Shell and Manis, lead coordinators at Eye Do Makeup & Hair, host the makeup class three to five times a year. During the class, people learn how to create a 10-15 minute daytime look, perfect for work or running errands. Shell and Manis teach attendees how to transform their day look into a quick evening look using only a handful of products. People will learn how to create each look using products they already have in their makeup bag. Shell and Manis have designed a makeup line called J&J Beauty, it includes everything from BB creams and shadow pallets to amazing brush sets. J&J Beauty is available for purchase at each makeup class.

"We are also going to show everyone how to put on a pair of fake lashes because most women have tried and have failed terribly," says Shell. "Between Jessica and I, we have probably applied a million pairs of lashes in the past decade so we are very good at applying lashes, it is really easy to do once you get the hang of it. We are going to show how to do a really nice smoky eye with just your eyeliner and a brush – some people don’t even know you can do that. We are also going to show women how to do a really nice lip using lip stains. I am really excited about it!"

During each class guests will receive a swag bag filled with samples of Shell and Manis’ favorite products.
