CINCINNATI — June 14, 2018 — Northwestern Mutual believes in the life-changing impact of community involvement. To celebrate its financial advisors who are committed to giving back to their local communities, the company is awarding grants to nonprofits nationwide.

For more than 20 years, Northwestern Mutual has honored financial advisors who are dedicated to outstanding volunteer service with grants to benefit their local nonprofits of choice.

Local resident Ronald Beshear, a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual — Cincinnati, has been selected as a recipient of the company’s 2018 Community Service Award. Beshear has received a $25,000 grant for Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. He is one of this year’s four Most Exceptional winners.

Beshear was a co-chair during the first fundraising effort for the school in 1988, and is one of only three individuals who have served two board terms at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA). During his thirty-year involvement, he has helped to grow the campus from 150 to 1300 kids, and recently co-chaired the Light the Way campaign. This $9 million campaign was strategically designed to support renovated spaces and additional programming to reach new levels of student, teacher and community engagement. Beshear and his wife have also established a scholarship in honor of their parents for $50,000, which generally goes to a single-parent household.

“When the opportunity arose to be on the ground floor to start Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy from scratch, I was all in,” said Beshear. “I’m looking forward to seeing the impact this grant has in the lives of so many students for years to come.”

CHCA is a multi-denominational college preparatory academy that exists to prepare students both intellectually and spiritually for success in higher education and beyond and to impact the the world according to their unique gifts and talents. CHCA will use the grant to support programming oriented around furthering innovation and engagement.

“Volunteerism takes drive, dedication and perseverance, which is why we created our Community Service Awards program,” said Eric Christophersen, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. “We’re proud to honor our financial advisors who tirelessly commit to causes and organizations that are meaningful to them.”

Since 1995, the company has donated more than $5.4 million through its Community Service Awards program. Nearly $300,000 has been awarded on behalf of financial advisors this year.
