Editor's Note: The IT Leadership Awards, presented by Pride Technologies, celebrate local IT professionals who help local, regional, national and global businesses run better through engaged leadership and a commitment to innovation. For the next 10 weeks, check back each Tuesday and Thursday as we highlight one of the 20 honorees of this year's award.

It wasn’t too long ago that if you wanted to take a tour of a home for sale, you had to arrange a visit with your agent or wait until an open house. Now, you can often get a virtual tour of that home on demand.

Technology has overhauled home buying and selling. And Vinit Kohli, vice president of management information systems for Sibcy Cline, which specializes in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana real estate, continues to work with his team to add value to both buyers and sellers.

“We want to be a one-stop shop for consumer selling and buying perspectives, as well as for agent support,” says Kohli. “Sibcy Cline strives for excellence, accuracy and local content others cannot provide. We have 1,100-plus local agents out in the neighborhoods who have first-hand information about the listings, as opposed to some data agent who is out-of-state. You might be able to get a price from them, but if you want accuracy about specific market conditions and nuances, you need to be local.”

Kohli’s team helps deliver this information via technology. “Content is key on the consumer side,” he says. “We include stories, photos and videos. We offer HomeWatch to help match buyers with homes that meet their criteria. The program sends e-mails featuring new compatible listings to subscribers, based on zip code, neighborhood, preferred school districts and more. This program also helps homeowners keep tabs on market value in their neighborhood.”

Kohli is working on a back-end accounting system upgrade, new mobile offerings and is always working to keep site visitors happy. During the peak hours, an average of 44 visitors per minute generate more than 600 page views per minute.

With improved technology to help you in your search, it’ll be faster than ever to find a house to call home.
