(Singapore) TradeFlow Capital Management (TradeFlow) and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)  announced a cooperation to co-create an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven solution to solve risk and efficiency challenges in the international shipping sector. With the shipping and maritime industry accounting for around 7% of Singapore's GDP and over 130,000 ships stopping in Singapore each year, the digitalized solution will improve Singapore's standing as an international shipping center.

The project's goal is to use artificial intelligence and machine learning to monitor, measure, analyze, and anticipate the risk that a corporation would incur demurrage on bulk commodity shipments throughout the world.

(Hongkong) Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform medical practice, but we have only begun to scratch the surface of its potential advantages. Prof. DOU Qi, a CUHK AI expert, is presently pushing the limits of AI-inspired medical innovation with new advances in robotic surgery and medical imaging. Surgeons can operate on patients using robotic surgery by manipulating robot arms from a remote console. This improves surgical safety and efficiency by reducing eye and hand fatigue. Robotic surgery, which is still a relatively new addition to the surgeon's arsenal, is primarily employed for minimally invasive operations. Prof. Dou of CUHK's Department of Computer Science and Engineering's award-winning study is now positioned to make major advancements in surgical robots' cognitive perception and high-precision gesture recognition, benefiting both surgeons and patients.

(Quebec) OSF Digital, a global provider of commerce solutions and digital transformation services, announced an investment in Teia Labs, a pioneer in artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for e-commerce. With this investment, OSF Digital intends to boost project productivity by utilizing AI-enabled technologies to aid developers in generating excellent code in less time. The deal's specifics are being kept under wraps.

"We've been working with Teia Labs for a while now, and we're pleased to invest in this cutting-edge AI technology. We honestly believe it will alter the way we create code in the next years," Gerard (Gerry) Szatvanyi, CEO of OSF Digital, stated "With this AI-enabled productivity and customer tool, we will be able to deliver quality projects to our clients faster, ensuring OSF Digital stays a global leader in offering digital transformation services."

(USA) Clearview AI is on pace to secure a US patent for its face recognition system according to a report from Politico. The US Patent and Trademark Office apparently handed the business a "notice of permission," which implies that after it pays the requisite administration costs, its patent will be legally authorized.

Clearview AI creates its face recognition database by scraping photographs of people from social media (and the internet in general), a technique that has landed the business in hot water. The company's patent application describes how it acquires images using a "web crawler," even mentioning that "online photos associated with a person's account may help to create additional records of facial recognition data points," which its machine learning algorithm can then use to find and identify matches.

(New Zealand) Dahua, a provider of IoT solutions and services, has offered Dicker Data a distribution contract in New Zealand. Dahua's AI-enabled IoT devices provide intelligent and connected video-based solutions that can learn and analyze data.

The firm specializes in access control, alarms, smart locks, smart buildings, intelligent transportation, video surveillance, and video intercoms for a variety of industries such as schools, banks, motorways, and toll gates. All IT reseller partners have access to the Dahua product line. Dicker Data's general manager of hardware, Richard Harri, says that it provides a chance for resellers to give additional "best in class" solutions. "In today's market, there is a rising desire to secure the safety of both staff and consumers, and it is feasible to improve security through the deployment of AI camera technology." It is also necessary to display vital alerts.
