The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has awarded a $922 million contract to General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics to modernize its IT infrastructure.

GDIT will facilitate CENTCOM's transition to a new cloud infrastructure, aiming to elevate the effectiveness and efficiency of its network operations. The company will fortify CENTCOM's cyber defenses, safeguarding against potential cyber threats in the future.

It will utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to streamline enterprise data processes, fostering enhanced decision-making capabilities.

“Technological innovation is critical to promoting stability and protecting our national security interests in this strategically important region. We look forward to delivering advanced solutions to enable CENTCOM to be better connected and prepared in support of its missions,” says Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s Senior Vice President for Defense Division.

The recent contract, granted in February 2024 through the General Services Administration, features a one-year initial term with the potential for five additional option years.

CENTCOM oversees and empowers military endeavors and collaborations with allies and partners to bolster regional security and stability, aligning with ongoing U.S. interests.

Its jurisdiction spans 21 nations across Northeast Africa, the Middle East, Central, and South Asia and to effectively carry out present and forthcoming missions, CENTCOM necessitates an advanced enterprise IT network ecosystem that seamlessly links data and systems to accommodate the dynamic movements of deployed service members.
