A subcommittee of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs voted to pass the Modernizing All Veterans and Survivors Claims Processing Act, which aims to enhance the claims process for veterans by mandating the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide AI tools to its workforce, Meritalk reported.
The bill requires the VA to develop a strategy for deploying automation tools across all Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) offices and the VA Board of Veterans’ Appeals. This initiative aims to streamline the processing of benefits claims for veterans and survivors.
The Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs approved the bill and forwarded it to the full committee for additional review. The bill was introduced by Rep. David Valadao, R-Calif., last month.
“Veterans shouldn’t be waiting months for their benefits because of outdated technology at the VA, but sadly that’s happening across the country. This commonsense bill ensures the VA has the technology and resources they need to review veterans’ claims in a more timely and efficient manner,” Rep. Valadao said.
