National Cyber Director Harry Coker Jr. recently revealed the appointment of Harry Wingo as Deputy National Cyber Director. Jake Braun, who served as the acting principal deputy national cyber director, resigned in late June to pursue academic interests.

“Harry is an accomplished leader with a unique set of expertise and experiences in the public and private sectors to include service. Harry’s lifetime of leadership will greatly contribute to our team’s mission to advance our nation’s security, economic prosperity and technological innovation through cybersecurity policy leadership,” Coker, Jr. said in a prepared statement. 

Previously, Wingo, a U.S. Navy SEAL veteran, served as an assistant professor in cybersecurity studies at the National Defense University since 2016.

Prior to this role, he held positions as the president and CEO of the DC Chamber of Commerce and as the founder of the consulting firm West River Solutions LLC.

Wingo also worked as a policy counsel at Google's Washington office and managed its veteran community programs.
